- Became familiar with the “Google tech stack” and shared responsibility in maintaining cron jobs, databases, websites, and CLI tools.
- One of my primary focuses within the team was educating and fostering a strong testing culture. After education, the team increased total coverage by 16%, and with presubmit checks, the team continued to improve quality and coverage.
- I supported Google’s GitHub enterprise plan and incident response teams with planning, tooling, and processes.
- Between December 2019 and January 2022, I became an Engineering Manager, initially for the compliance team and later took on the GitHub team.
- Required setting priorities for the teams, ensuring our services run smoothly, and ensuring the teams were happy during the pandemic.
April 2013 - April 2018 [Staff Developer Programs Engineer - Chrome Dev Rel]
Below are some of the larger projects I was involved in as a developer programs engineer on the Chrome DevRel team; however, this does not include YouTube videos & presentations, docs & blog posts and other day-to-day tasks.
Workbox
- I worked with the early implementations of service workers, writing a chapter for Smashing Book 5 on the topic and later became a team lead and core dev for the early versions of Workbox, a set of libraries and tools that simplify using service workers to build progressive web apps (PWAs).
Firebase Cloud Messaging
- After working on native web push, I lead the design and implementation of the Firebase Cloud Messaging Web SDK, adding support for service workers to the SDK, supporting long-term plans in the API design and working with early access partners.
- After its release, I became web platform lead for the Firebase API team, reviewing new API proposals and participating in design reviews for new features and overall SDK architecture.
Chromium-based WebView in Android
- Working with the engineering team, producing educational content, working with key partners in early access programs, advocating the change with external communities online, and presenting at conferences.
Future Platforms
May 2011 - June 2012 [Software Engineer]
Future Platforms was a small agency base in Brighton, UK.
- Worked in a small team to deliver various applications to clients.
- Developed for the Android, iOS, Nokia QT, and Blackberry platforms.
- Worked on a cross-platform framework called KirinJS.
Mubaloo

I was an intern for Mubaloo and a consultant before joining Mubaloo full time. The company grew from 5 to 40 people during my time there.
